If you know Spela, you know she is a wonderful person, teacher from Slovenia, and a proud mother of two QSI students. She is also a regular presence on campus helping us out whenever we need her.
She stays in touch with her school in Slovenia where she taught before moving to Hungary. We had the opportunity to share our expertise with an enthusiastic group of Slovenian teachers and administrators from that school last Friday. They visited our school to learn about our school system, the curriculum, mastery learning, and what our classrooms look like.
They were grateful that our doors were open and that they could ask questions. But the biggest compliment was their perception of our staff, so positive and professional.
We welcomed them with two beautiful songs sung by our 8-11-year-olds led by Miss. Callahan which made a big impression! Then I bragged about our teachers and students and community and how proud I always am when visitors come to our school. Ms. Muurling led a session on Mastery Learning that was well-received with comments like, “Isn’t that how all students should be taught?”
Yes, I do believe it is.
