First Days of School Compulsory

There is consistent evidence to show early positive school experiences are important for your child’s social and emotional wellbeing and academic achievement. In contrast, children who experience a bumpy start to school are more likely to continue to experience difficulties throughout their school year.

Teachers know this is a time to establish routines and relationships. Textbooks and lockers are assigned. Expectations are explained.

Unfortunately, however, some parents don’t understand the importance of attendance, extending their vacations a bit longer, not seeing the necessity of those first two days. Some parents don’t understand the impact absence has on their own children, or on the class as a whole since instruction is interrupted by families who don’t think the first days of school are important. They are.

School attendance is compulsory in Hungary, even though we are a private entity. If children are sick, of course they should stay home. But if they are well and don’t attend, the absence will be unexcused.

We will have an Open House on Wednesday, August 24 from 16:00-18:00. Our first day of school is Thursday, August 25, gates open at 8:00. We look forward to seeing you!
